Three generations on Hudson Valley roofs.
Frank Stevens climbed onto his first roof in 1960. The company still runs the way he ran it — the people who estimate the job are the people who oversee it.
Our story
A family company, incorporated in 1999, working since 1973.
Frank Stevens began roofing in Central Valley, New York in 1960 at the age of 18, working for Jones Brothers — a roofing and plumbing company started in the late 1800s. In 1973 he opened Frank Stevens Roofing, and in 1999 the business was incorporated as Frank Stevens & Sons Roofing, Inc.
We are family-owned and operated, specializing in the replacement, repair, restoration and maintenance of commercial, industrial, institutional and residential roofing systems on both low-slope and steep-slope roofs. That includes built-up hot tar systems, single-ply membranes (EPDM rubber, TPO and PVC), asphalt shingles, real and imitation slate, cedar shake shingles, and metal roofing — standing seam panel and metal shingles.
Our own sheet metal shop
We run a fully operational sheet metal shop and can custom-fabricate components for any job. When a valley, coping or flashing detail doesn't exist off the shelf, we make it.
Certifications that mean better warranties
We have achieved GAF Master Elite Contractor status and are trained, certified installers of Johns Manville, Carlisle SynTec, Firestone (now Elevate), Duro-Last and Tremco commercial roofing products. Those certifications are what allow us to offer the best warranties available in the industry.
Forty years of buildings
We have completed numerous public and private projects: schools, medical centers, correctional facilities, town halls, museums, libraries, airport hangars, military structures, retail stores, factories, warehouses, nursing homes, senior centers, sewer plants, architects' offices, places of worship, banks, firehouses — and of course residences, big and small.
That range is why we're exceptional at diagnosing and eliminating roof leaks. We have held long-standing maintenance contracts with several school districts and counties. We take genuine pride in the work and stand behind it, with a commitment to honesty, quality and safety. We are bonded and insured under an A+ rated policy to perform both commercial and residential roofing.
Who estimates your roof
The two men who price the job are the two men who run it.
Chris Stevens heads our commercial roofing division. Jim McCormick, Frank's son-in-law, heads residential. Between them they have six decades in the trade, and both spent most of it as installers.
Chris Stevens — Commercial
More than 35 years, with extensive knowledge of every type of roof system, gained from having been an installer himself for decades.
Jim McCormick — Residential
More than 25 years in the trade. Frank's son-in-law, and the person who will evaluate and estimate your home.
On site, start to finish
Both stay hands-on, physically overseeing that every job is done correctly — exactly as Frank Stevens did from the beginning of the business.
We have been able to maintain this business since 1973 through quality control — and quality control starts with having people with genuine roofing experience evaluate, analyze and estimate the job.
Frank Stevens & Sons Roofing, Inc.We will never employ salesmen, those types who would gladly sell customers a toaster oven and more if they could. Having Chris and Jim involved from estimating to completion in the field certainly hasn't made our lives easy — but it has proved to be a winning formula for continued success and customer satisfaction during all of these years.
